BIOBASE

Together with three friends, I have founded the company BIOBASE GmbH in October 1997. The idea was to ensure long-term sustainment of TRANSFAC^® and other databases, which we had generated in my research group at former GBF, now Helmholtz Center for Infectious Research (HZI).

In January 2001, I joined the company as managing director (President and CSO), which I continued until January 2010. Until 2012, I was a member of BIOBASE's Board of Directors (Beirat), and still am one of the Representative Directors of BIOBASE's Japanese daughter company, Nihon BIOBASE K.K. in Tokyo.
